Hi!  I'm Pamela Walker and I have been teaching yoga since 2005 after completing a 200hr yoga teacher training in the Sivananda Yoga tradition.  In 2007 I left the UK to live in Australia and opened a yoga studio in Canberra.  For 4 years I ran a sucessful studio and also trained as a Thai Yoga Massage therapist and then found a passion for teaching prenatal yoga.  I continued the studies with postnatal yoga including Mums & Bubs, and kids yoga.  I  taught this range of classes weekly until the birth of my daughter.  In 2013, I sold the studio and moved to the 4017 area of Brisbane.

Since 2008, I have completed 3 pre & post natal trainings including 150hr certification with internationally recognised IYTA. I enjoyed this training so much, I ended up co-teaching their Level 1 training! I am passionate about women birthing in a safe supportive environment however they choose to birth! My aim is to help women to tap into their intuition and use that feminine power to have a positive birthing experience however their baby enters the world.

After gaining experience teaching pre & post natal yoga teacher for over 10 years,  I heard so many different birth stories, not always positive. That led me to explore childbirth education and to find more ways to support women in birthing.  Choosing to become a HypnoBirthing practitioner in the Mongan Method has enhanced my teaching, giving my students even more knowledge, tools and techniques to help them make informed decisions and find confidence in the way they choose to birth.  Understanding the current birthing systems and learning that birthing doesn’t have to be a medical event has changed the way I viewed birth.

I draw upon my teaching  skills as well as my own experience of birthing one spirited daughter. Her birth was empowering and has driven me even more to assist women on this journey into motherhood.  I was fortunate to have a huge network of students, teachers, family and friends to support me, highlighting the importance of knowledge, along with physical, mental and emotional strength preparing me to trust in nature and make the best birthing decisions.  I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with you and assisting you on your journey to parenthood.

As well as my passion to support women in birthing, I also teach gentle Hatha yoga classes.  These classes are an opportunity to slow down, connect to your body and tune into the breath.  I like to allow time to explore each pose at your pace , with modifications to suit your needs.  Every class ends with a relaxation to nurture, replenish and to ease you back into your day! The Strengthen, Lengthen & Relax classes are suitable for beginners, or those looking for a slower paced class.

To compliment a yoga practice, I offer Thai Yoga Massage to my yoga students for a deeper level of body awareness and opportunity for further relaxation.  This is a fully clothed and supported massage performed on floor mats working on sen (energy) lines and acupressure points.  All massages are tailored for individual needs, including pregancy massage.
